The land is vertical in most of the edges of the water and there are many waterfalls. Luckily we choose a day of good weather for this visit.

Yesterday was our day at Milford Sound. The scenery matches any in Scotland, the Lake District and the Alps. The drive down to sea level took over a hour.
This photo was one of our first stops at Mirror Lakes.
Manapouri, New Zealand
This area nears the highest rainfall of anywhere in the world. There are permanent waterfalls, ones that last a few days after rain then the whole hillside in torrential lay storms !!!
