Monday 3rd March - Phi Phi
Mission Impossible! Our task if we decided to accept it was to get a long boat from Railay to Phi Phi with all our rucksacks! We embarked on a 5 minute journey on the long boat to the large ferry boat which was moored in the middle of the ocean! We had to stand up on the side of the long boat, climb onto a tyre, climb onto a ledge then onto the side of the boat! As well as trying to carry over our rucksacks, day packs and handbags! We thought Thailand was supposed to be easy!! We saw people with children and buggies and couldn't understand how they coped as we struggled with a 50l rucksack! Boat took 2 hours to get to Phi Phi. When we arrived they moored up against another boat and we had to jump off and through another 3 boats to get the pier! We now feel invinciable with our rucksacks and can handle any obstacle thrown atus !! Krypton Factor here we come! Our hotel (the Viewpoint) was siutated at the other side from the port but luckily one of the hotel staff were at the pier to carry our bags on a trolley for us. The hotel was situated on a mountain side and the views from our room were breath taking. We could see across the whole of the bay. We spent the afternoon on the beach (really nice beach) and the sea water was like bath water!! very warm!! We had dinner on the beach and then chilled at the hotel.
Tuesday 4th March - Kerrie arrives in Phi Phi!!
We went to meet Kerrie at the port and got her checked into the Viewpoint. Spent the day chilling by the hotel pool and having cocktails! Getting ready, Charlie was pleased to hear that Kerrie had brought her hair straighteners with her and felt a million dollars going out tonight! Went out and had a nice Thai dinner then went to a local bar (Regaee Bar) where they have Thai Boxing contests! We did consider having a contest between Sarah and Charlie. but looking at the way the competitors were fighting decided to definately give it a miss mainly because Charlie didn't want her lovely straight and shiny new hair do to get messed up!! The locals were definately not in it for fun and there were a few 'hairy moments! As violent as it was, we all felt strangely drawn to this Thai Boxing malarky and definately want to come back to see it tomorrow night!!
Wednesday 5th March
Spent the day chilling on the beach and in the eve, went back out to see the Thai Boxing. We sat at the front next to the ring and the fight literally came a bit too close to us as one of the Thai boxers was thrown out the ring and landed on the table next to us!! Kerrie calmly picked up her drink and moved away while Charlie was jumping all over a poor onlooker as she was freaking out cos they 'didn't have helmets on'!!!
Thursday 6th March - Kerrie's Birthday!!!
We went on the 'Sunset' Boat tour to the beach (Maya) where the film 'The Beach' was made. On the way to Maya bay we sailed past Monkey Island and also the island where the locals gather birds nests to make 'Birds Nest Soup'. We did some snorkelling and Kayaking from the boat too. Kerrie enjoyed her birthday and we had dinner on the boat with some girls we met from Essex (Jo and Kelly). A really good day and the sunset on the way back was amazing.
Friday 7th March - Patong Beach
Said goodbye to Kerrie :(( as she is staying on in Phi Phi for a few extra days and we caught the boat to Phuket. After a 2 hour boat journey, we arrived at Phuket and got a mini bus to our hotel in Patong Beach. We went shopping and did some more bartering with the locals (so much fun!) and got some bargains to bring home. We had our last supper :(( at good ol Molly Malones!! We filled our boots at dinner then went for a few drinks at the Aussie Bar.
Saturday 8th March - Patong Beach/Flight
Got up early to go to the beach as we were leaving for the airport at 2.00pm. Soaked up the last rays and Charlie got a bit more shopping done. Got a taxi to Phuket airport and landed in Bangkok around 7.30pm. Waited for our BA Flight to London (it was leaving at midnight) and got on the plane for the final flight of our adventure! Sarah's mum and dad collected us from the airport and it was a 'Love Actually' moment for sure!! (I definately saw tears - Charlie!)
We are back in Milton Keynes now and back to earth with a bump! Petrol has gone up, it's bloomin freezing and Bletchley Leisure Centre has been pulled down! It really does all go on when you're not here! We have missed Dancing on Ice (damn) and Gareth Gates has been knocked out on Sunday! Roll on Big Brother that's what I say (Chaz) We need to go to Primark to get a steady supply of jumpers and leg warmers as we can't cope with the heat.
We hope you have enjoyed reading our blog and following our adventure with us.
We definately had the time of our lives and loved every second of our adventure.
