We have arrived at our last place on our journey though Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City.
Today we are going to the Cu Chi tunnels, these are the tunnels that were created by the Vietnamese army against the Americans. These tunnels spanned across an area of 120km. When we arrived our guide showed us one of the entrances to the tunnels and then let us try and fit in! I had a go but couldn't get past my shoulders. These were built like this to stop american soilders entering the tunnels as Vietnamese people are a lot smaller and skinnier so they could escape to safety when the fighting was going on or come back up behind the enemy with a surprise attack.
Along the way around the site we were shown weapons and traps that were used in the war. We then got the chance to shoot an AK47 which was pretty cool!
After missing the target on most of our shots :) we made our way to the tunnels which had been adapted so that foreigners could crawl through! We were only inside for about 2 minutes but that was enough time to realise how hard it must have been to live in those conditions as it was so hot and cramped.
That was then end of our trip, it was a very interesting day to see and find out what happened many years ago!
We wanted to find out more about the war so we headed down to the war museum! Parts of the exhibition showed pictures of innocent people getting murdered and reporters interviews of what they saw.
A main part of the museum was about 'Agent Orange'....This is where during 1961-1971 the US spread chemicals across South Vietnam and contaminated all the land. People who were then born after this time were born with severe disorders as a result of this, there were pictures showing this which was very sad.
Now it's time to go and see what Cambodia has to offer!
