It's the 21st January and we're on Koh Phi Phi island at the moment.. Very different to Railay Beach where we've just come from. Railay beach was very hippie fied, Regae bar after Regae bar, wicked live music, such a laid back vibe and hardly any electric&wifi.
We decided to get a Kayak around Railay beach for the day, see the Princess caves (more wooden penis's) this time it was meant to be where a sea princess lived in ancient times and fishermen believe it's good luck to make an offering before their fishing trips.
We really wanted to fit in going to see the Lagoon on the otherside of Railay. We'd heard it was a 15minute walk up to the other side so thought it would be pretty easy. As we started our 'walk'passers by were telling us "be careful, it's really difficult!" and "Its quite muddy with lots of absailing down sheer drops!"
After about 25minutes or so we'd reached the viewpoint where it seemed most people ended their hikes and went back to the beach. We thought as we'd made it this far we had to make it to the end now!
It was true what they'd said.. Vertical drops and muddy rocks, the only things we had to help us along was our hands, feet and some muddy ropes hanging from the top.
We went down about 4 steep rock faces sometimes only dangling by a rope.
As we made it to the Lagoon we had some water and of all the things we could of done on the way down, whilst taking a picture Matt slipped over and cut his hand open on some sharp rocks. We can laugh about it now but at the time it was pretty scary as we were the only ones down there and under the trees it looked pretty dark..
After some nursing and werthers originals, we started our climb back up, which seemed easier to me, but used a lot more upper body strength. We were aching the day after, the day after that.. Okay we're still aching!! :)
The next day we travelled by ferry to Koh Phi Phi and were in need of some alcoholic bevs, so we went to an awesome beach party at a place called Slinky bar.. Had lots of buckets, dancing and limboed under a rod of fire, with sore heads and aching pecs in the morning.
All in all we were pleased with our adventurousness and will be beach bums on Phi Phi for the next few days :)
Things we've grown to learn about Thailand so far:
+Thais drive and cycle like maniacs and Thailand is the most dangerous place to drive in the world
+They love their large wooden penises, everywhere! (Meant to symbolise fertility)
+Watch out for cheeky monkeys
+Left hand drive means nothing in Thailand
+Thai whiskey isn't for the faint hearted!!
+You'll see 4-5 people on a motorbike all at one time
+There are lots of stray dogs everywhere
+Toilet paper is on every restaurant table as napkins, but you won't find any in the toilets
+There's always a 7-11 or Regae bar about 10feet away
+Thais love to say "same same, but different" when trying to sell you something..it's always very different from the real thing.
Speak soon. Sarah xxx

Victoria I was thinking about you 2 today. Sounds like you're having the most fun time! Enjoy Phi Phi, such a beautiful place :) so so jealous by the way. Stay safe and keep drinking buckets and limboing under fire - Ben won a tshirt for doing that - pretty big achievement seeing he was twive as tall as most of the contestants!! Looking forward to the next installment. Lots of love VOB xxxxx
