Volcan Pacaya
The only possible time to get up this volcano in our small time was new years day in the afternoon. The 4km was easier than San Pedro but very different. An active volcano with a huge amount of pumice, like walking uphill on sand. 100Q for a horse ride up the volcano till near the top which is tempting. Sarah missed out on riding in and around San Pedro so for 100Q, this was cheep and fun. Really wasn't ready for that type of climb in the heat of the day. It was cloudy but made for an amazing feeling. There was a section where I was by myself, no one in front or behind and a few tracks. That's what the photos are of. The climb to near the top took us to volcanic vents where we cooked marshmallows and chorizo!! Required as this is the second climb on almost empty stomachs.
Back down and home to a massive burger, beer and another shuttle, this time to Linquin. This is going to be great as its an amazing water system and caving by candle light!!
