Ok, so this is worth writing straight away. To set the scene, We are on a shuttle from Antigua to Linquin through guatemala city. We got onto the shuttle as they pick everyone up from their different hostels. They don't do this in an order, just at random and we circled Antigua city a few times. We left at 9:30 instead of 8 as they wait for people or nothing, you're never really sure. We get into Guatemala city and pick up 2 more people. The slide chairs into the two spaces in the aisle, to fill it up. We started moving on the next leg.
The main road to where we are after is closed for a demonstration.... Not sure what for so we took the back roads. The main road seem like back roads, these were interesting.
We then got pulled over by police on a hill near a slum or a really s***ty area. They took the papers for the car and our trip and went to 'verify' them. We stayed for a while, a 'rest stop' of types until the driver got nervous, finished his phone calls, maybe to his boss and everyone got back in as he said they were coming back. We left, no papers and before the cops get back. We made it to a larger road and things were feeling safer, until we drove on the wrong side of the freeway till we could get across. 15 minutes later we were flagged over by a police stop checking papers..... What did we do, just kept driving and the driver started making more calls. Everyone was watching to see if the police came after us, expecting this to be a long stop at the side of the road. It's been a good 20 minutes and nothing has happened. I guess all bus trips can't be interesting.
