Life in Oz!
I just got back from my 3 day tour to Uluru and I am now back in Alice Springs tonight to start on the next leg of the journey up to Darwin. It was AMAZING!! We started out bright and early Saturday morning and headed down to Uluru wich is just over 400 Kilometers from Alice Springs. We saw the rock but first went on a trek in Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) which is a big rocky outcrop type place which was beautiful. We then headed back to Uluru to watch the sunset, it was basically a huge rainbow that covered the sky and the rock changed colour as well. I slept in a swag (aussie bed roll...more details later) which was great and really warm. The stars were great, I have never seen so many in my life. We could also see part of the Milky Way and Jupiter. For sunrise we had our choice to either climb, walk around or go to the lookout of Uluru. I chose to walk around the base which is just over 4K. From there we headed to the cultural centre with heaps of info and background about it from the aboriginal culture. After lunch it was time to head to Kings Canyon. On the way we stopped at Mt Connor or better know as Fooluru to the locals because it looks very similar and also a dried up salt lake. We went to our camp site and I slept in the swag again. We got to sleep in a bit and went for a hike up Kings Canyon. Heaps of great scenery and a tricky climb at the beginning. On the way down I was talking to one of the girls about falling and either breaking my camera or a limb. Not long after a took a spill and twisted my ankle pretty good. I'm fine now I can pretty much walk on it again, its just that its the size of a golf ball. Heading up to Darwin early tomorrow...will try to update in a few days again!
