Sara's Travels 05-06
I dont know really how this is supposed to work, whether Im writing for me or other people (as I dont know how many people will read it), but we will see what happens!
Ok...after spending the first few days in Oz being ill from something I ate, I have finally started getting in to the whole travelling swing of things and am actually able to report back about things I have actually done!
Perth as a city is a very pretty and clean place. The north of the city is the lively end with all the bars and restaurants in Northbridge where I was staying for a few days. The south of the city has Swan River and Kings Park. I actually went to Kings Park today with Dad.....absolutely amazing place. Its situated on a hill looking over the skyline of Perth and the River...absolutely breath taking scenery. So pretty much today was spend just chilling around there.
I have also experienced some Ozzy beaches at Cottesloe, which is a train journey away....white sand, clear blue sea....gorgeous!! Dad has been doing the whole '..now make sure you cover up!!!'....as if...its sunbathing all the way!!!
I went over to a place called Freemantle, a port suburb of Perth, which again is a train journey away from central Perth. I love Freemantle soooo much, its a really vibrant, pretty place...a really unique atmosphere there. Theres a street called 'Cappuccino strip' which has loads of cafes (funnily enough) with THE most gorgeous cakes and cheesecakes....so obviously it would have been rude not to have a taster!
Freemantle is where my Grandad was based in the War, so Dad and I are going to go back there later in the week with Granny Joan who knew Grandad, who I came over here to see. On that note we were invited over to Joans on Sunday for 'nibbles.' She is so lovely. It was really good to see the residential areas of the city as well.
Sal, Claire and Sarah are leaving Perth tomorrow on the three day Indian Pacific train to Adelaide, but I am staying in Perth with Dad until next Tues. Im then flying over to Adelaide to meet up again with the girls. Dad and I have got a lot planned for the next wee...trying to fit it all in. Trips include a tour North of Perth to the deserty areas, where I think we go sandboarding...wooo hoooo!!! We have a trip South of Perth to a place called Margaret River. Also probably a trip to a little island just off Perth. Dirty Dancing is showing at a Theatre here, so I am desperately trying to fit that in as well!!!
Anyways I am sure I will update on these next time....so for now ttfn!!!!
