Sara's Travels 05-06
Ok...so finally we reach the infamous Bondi Beach fro Xmas. The beach is nothing like I expected, but everything and more what people say about it. The pure white sand, clear sea and awesome waves! This journal entry may be quite short because this was purely a beach week...working hard on a good tan for Christmas day. The shops around Bondi are obviously very surfery, but it is actually quite a quaint place...with cute streets rather than tall holiday hotels...like I expected.
In Bondi we met up with some of Sallys and Claires friends from home on a few nights out which was good. Christmas morning was spent in our hotel room opening the cards that we given before we came out. The daytime was spent on the beach...which was so rammed with backpackers in santas hat and xmas trees on the beach. Although it was soo busy it was such a good day...surreal that it was Christmas Day, but good all the same. We had got tickets for the Judge Jules gig that was at the beach pavillion, so we spent the evening there. It was sooo good. We met up with the Irish lads we met in Melbourne too, so all of us pretty much danced the night away!
Boxing day, we took a walk from Bondi to Coogee beach. It was absolutely beautiful...it was almost like a mini walking great ocean road...although it had a random graveyard looking out to the sea randomly in the middle of the walk!
Bondi by far is my fav beach so far and it would be good to go back at some point before we leave Sydney! It was really good as well because our hotel (yes...hotel...not hostel...living in luxury over xmas!) was a 2 minute walk from the beach and the people were so lovely and made us feel so welcome there! Bondi Beach B and B for anyone going to Bondi...although its expensive for travellers at $50 per night.
