Nicaragua Mission
Today was a very full day! We saw lots, had a lot of emotions and got to connect with a lot of children! The majority of the day, for us, was spent with the children at the re-nutrition centre while the guys painted the sunday school area and our 2 nurses worked in the clinic.
There were about 18 children ranging in age from 7 months to 5 years. Its amazing how little they all were and premature for their ages....the 7 month old girl was like a new born weighing 10 lbs and unable to support her neck. The next 2 youngest were Lauren's and my favourite....they were under a year and a half but seemed more like 7 or 8 months....such beautiful eyes and sweet smiles. We had the opportunity to feed them and play a lot but the supervisors didn't want us to let them nap in the afternoon...I assume they want them to sleep through the night. It's fascinating that they don't speak a word of English but we were able to communicate all day with them. For the most part they are all well behave...there are a couple little stinkers but they really were the fun ones! There was one girl that wouldn't let me sit while I was holding her; I had to stand the whole time...reminded me of someone I knew...Lauren! :)This year is an election year in Nicaragua so we were instructed that we could not wear red during our stay...today we were instructed NOT to leave the building after dinner as one of the presidential candidates was doing a tour through the town and because of his presence there may be some unpredictable unpleasant behaviour amongst the locals....so we are house bound tonight. That's ok though...we are pretty exhausted!
Lauren says she wants to adopt a child...the next Angelina! LOL

Pamela Tolmay Thanks so much for the photos and the update Sarah. Every time I see photos of the Centre there are improvements which is so great. You are bonding with the little ones and giving them much needed cuddling. Seeing the photos of you all makes me want to cry. Lots of love, Pam
Rita Vella Hi Sara, sounds like an amazing and emotional time, but we can see joy in the picuture. We love your blog, and look forward to the daily updates. Be safe, your rsm family.
