Hello all.
On the 7th we did a lot of travelling! Wegot a tuk-tuk from Khao san road to the train station to catch the train to Phitsanlok, our first experiance of Thai trains. It was very nice and organised and there were people everywhere that would help, a much more calm way of travelling than India!! The train itself was also nice enough. The seats were a bit uncomfortable but you got a drink and a snack when you got on as well as lunch all included in the price so that was a good surprise. I was expecting to have to buy my own or starve! Once there we had to get a tuk-tuk to the bus station and then a bus to Sukhothai. The bus ride was pretty average there isn't really much to say about it! After the bus we got yet another tuk-tuk to our hotel. It sounds like a nightmare when it is written out like that, but it is so easy to travel around that the whole day was completely stress free. I really can't emphasise enough how lovely the Thai people are. Everybody is so friendly and smiley it is really nice.
The guesthouse we are staying in (called J and J guesthouse) is really nice. We are staying in the cheapest rooms which are about 3 pounds 50 a night and we get a fan and a private bathroom with a hot shower. There is a pool here so Jess and I have done some much needed exercise! At the guesthouse they do freshly baked bread every day so this morning i had the best bagette ever!! The food here is also really nice, everything is so fresh and yummy! In fact i am REALLY enjoying thai food, i have not yet come across a dish that i haven't liked.
Today (the 8th) we spent the day in Old sukhothai looking around all of the Wats (they are like temples) We had a tuk-tuk driver that took us around the complex (you could hire out bikes but we were being lazy, plus it is so humid!). It was a really nice day and Jess and I were both in good spirits. The Wats and Buddahs were so pretty and the area itself was so lush and green. We have got loads of really nice photos of them. I have to say after a few hours they were all looking very similar but nevertheless it was worth doing.
Tomorrow we are getting the bus up to Chaing Mai. We are staying there until the 16th when we are crossing the boarder into Laos. We are in Chaing Mai for the Thai new year which lasts a few days and apparently involves a lot of water being thrown around so we are preparing to get soaked!!!
I will upload the photos from today at some point in Chaing mai. Hope you are all still okay and had a good pancake day. Lots of love xxxx
