Fraser island is a place of exceptional beauty, with its long uninterrupted white beaches flanked by strikingly coloured sand cliffs, and over 100 freshwater lakes, some tea-coloured and others clear and blue all ringed by white sandy beaches. Ancient rainforests grow in sand along the banks of fast-flowing, crystal-clear creeks that you can drink.

I booked a 2 night, 3 days trip from Rainbow beach to Fraser Island. In a great group of 2 other German girls, an Irish couple and 3 English guys we shared an off-road vehicle because Fraser is a striclty four wheel driving territory - no street's only sand tracks.

For me it was the first time driving with a Austrlian car and off-vehicle so I said in advance would like to pic a more easy part of the track. But it comes always different than you think. So when it was my turn I had actually the trickiest part of the hole tour. Starting in low range, 3rd gier and my Driver instructed me via walki talki: go hard!
So I started the motor in the very soft sand which feels like diving in snow and just acaccelerate as much as possible! It was hard to keep the car in control, especially when I watched the car in front of me was close to an car accident. But I made it!!! I got great applause :-)

On Fraser it is not allowed to swim in the sea because of dangerous jelly fishes and sharks are swimming there. But we enjoyed swimming in crystal clear water of the lakes and river and hiked through desert like surrounding and rainforest. Nature is just breathtaking. On top of the rock called Indian heads, I watched wild dolphins and a turtle. With the four wheel vehicle we passed wild Dingos. One of the greatest moment was cercertainly seeing the night sky so clear and bright. You were able to see the Milky way and other galaxies.

It was so great making friends on Fraser and in the hostel. But what I criticise, everyone is stocked in packages of travelling which is booked in advance where you can not be flexible and spontaneous. So mostly you make friends for 1-3 days - that's it. You tell your story 10times per day and I am aactually exhausted by this short living friendships.

So is also a reason to stay and settle for a job or volunteer job

Travelling by Bus for long distance is great. I do not feel bad driving 6h -it just belong to my travelling. In this time I'm actually realising my trip. I'm far far away from home and my trip will last long without a concrete plan. My trip has just started and I am feeling and getting to know me better....what I like, what I want and how different I am to many other backpacker.
I deeply feel I am not attached to commercials and up to now I will change my travelling and life here in Australia. It takes always a bit time to understand the system and the life in every country.

Next stop: seventeen seven, Castaway
