Hello all,
We'll I've left Moshi now and am back on the Acacia overland truck. We're currently staying at the Meserani Snake Park just outside of Arusha. Because of the Kenya situation I was one of the first to arrive and everyone else has been arriving in dribs and drabs. Everyone's really nice and the driver and guide, Paul and Musa, are lovely too. The snake park is cool. The owners of the campsite were into snakes so set up a little snake zoo. I saw them being fed yesterday and have some pretty gross, but fascinating, footage of cute little fluffy chicks dying horrible snakey deaths. Maybe I'll post it on the blog, for educational purposes of course :-) I also held a sand snake. The chap there asked if I wanted to hold it and before I could say yes it was already around my neck. It was only a little one though, and harmless. They have crocodiles too and I got to hold one of the babies. It was only about 20-30 cm long and was really cute, with a soft little pot belly. They're already strong though. The big crocs got fed live chickens yesterday too and so we watched them fight over their piece.
I'll be out of touch for a while now I think. Tomorrow we leave in little safari jeeps for 5 days of camping in the Serengeti and Ngorogoro crater. Most of it is bush camping so there'll be lots of animals wandering around the tents at night. Better strengthen those bladder muscles, do not want to have to go to the loo at night... :-) After that it's back to the truck and we'll be off to Dar es Salaam and then Zanzibar. I can't believe it's half way through the trip. Everything is still so exciting! Can't stop grinning!
Take care,
xxx
PS I've noticed that at least one of my blog entries (the one from Kampala) has disappeared. If you notice anymore could you please let me know.
