The alarm went off at 5am and we leapt into action, on the Airport Express by 6am and so to the airport in very good time. Before going through we collected our all important Banana Wifi which we are trying out in the hope it will save us from paying exorbitant roaming fees. Looking out of our hotel window we can see the impressive Jantar Mantar (observatory), and all its many sun dials and other structures, very close by. It looks very similar to the one we visited in Jaipur, all made out of red stone.

We set off in the minibus, through the wide, tree-lined streets of New Delhi. This is the area built by the British between 1911 and 1931 to be the showcase of the Empire. It was an afternoon game starting at 3 o'clock and we weren't much looking forward to the boiling heat, especially as you aren't even allowed to take water into the stadium and there is hardly any available to buy. Anyway, at the last minute we were told that the tickets we had been given for the match, for the Old Clubhouse Stand, couldn't be used any more because the stand was closed due to a court case.
