Our Travels
We set off in the minibus, through the wide, tree-lined streets of New Delhi. This is the area built by the British between 1911 and 1931 to be the showcase of the Empire. On Independence this became the capital of the new nation and is certainly a very impressive area. There are large forest areas, many parks and gardens and lots of large and imposing buildings. Many embassies are here and lots of larger houses. It is clearly a more wealthy area with higher living standards than other parts of the city.
The streets were much, much quieter than usual due to the holiday and, before too long, we stopped and went inside the Qutab complex which is part of the Mehrauli Archaelogical Park.
