Our Travels
We woke early with the morning light shining through the stained glass windows in our suite and a sad feeling in our hearts. Our wonderful trip is almost at an end. Our last morning at wonderful Otahuna Lodge. One last sumptuous breakfast in the lodge kitchen, together with the amazing Pat and John before they left for Dunedin, a final swim in the pool followed by coffee and freshly baked scones on the front terrace, The hours melted away and all too soon we were waving goodbye to the lovely Donna who had looked after us so well, and away down the drive and back to reality. Beautiful Otahuna Lodge where you feel so welcome and instantly at home, as if you have lived there all your life. We will be back some day, of that you can be sure!
We drove to the airport and all seemed to be running smoothly until we were told quite brusquely that, contrary to previous information we had been given, we were not able to check in early and would have to take our luggage away and return with it 2 hours before our flight. Oh dear! What about our leisurely bag-free tour of Christchurch! We struggled back outside with our bags to meet Lyndal, our lovely lady taxi driver whom we remembered so fondly from our trip in 2011.
