Our Travels
We were ready and waiting for our coach to Calgary in good time. Once aboard we were soon outside Banff National Park and after passing the small town of Canmore it was not long before the mountains were less high. Very soon they were just rolling foothills and by the time we reached Calgary there was not a mountain to be seen. The whole area is very flat and sprawling. We passed the Olympic Park and saw the place where our own Eddie the Eagle had his moment of fame. We also saw the place where the Jamaican bobsleigh team took part, inspiring the film 'Cool Runnings' which as a family we have seen and enjoyed.
We were soon in downtown Calgary which was very modern with tall buildings although there were some attractive older buildings too. Once at the Palliser we were soon in our room which was on the Gold Floor. It was attractive and spacious with 2 queen beds, but one downside ... there was virtually no storage space. Only a very tiny wardrobe and 2 tiny drawers. Now what is the point of that?
We went upstairs to check out the Penthouse Lounge. There was no real view, other than cranes and half built buildings in al directions. I guess we have been spoilt with our beautiful mountains and lakes over the past few days.
