Hi All,
The flight over was interesting enough with nearly 17 hours, lucky someone had invited movies on request and i had my mates Mel and Ewan to entertain me. The check in lady obviously thought i looked like i had been working out because she relocated me to the emergency exit. That was great for the leg room but i may now be black listed from Singapore Airlines after attempts to wake up a dead leg. I stood up and had about two metres free infront of me before business class and giving my legs a bit of a shake to wake them up- of which i of course managed to misjudge how close to the emergency door i was because i kick the sh*t out of the door and got many a worried look for fellow passengers. lucky i knew the international sign of lifting one hand and frowning and dipping your head - translates to: i'm sorry i know i'm an idiot.
Having arrived safely in Cape Town, caught up with jac, we headed straight to the pub and have been having a great time thanks to very friendly locals and an exchange rate that means pints of beer are AU$3. Watched the English go down to the Germans at the Waterfront (the local), the crowd looked largely English (cant be missed really) and definitely sounded like it to until the Germans scored and they came out of the wood work.
The next day we went out to Robben Island and up Table Mountain - i nearly didnt get up Table Mountain as they thought i was English and they had to stop let them up their for fear they may through themselves off after their poor performance the day prior - joking.
Run into some Swedish backpackers who have just finished our tour in reverse and they said that Namibia was so cold their shampoo froze. So something to look forward to.
Will be off the grid for some time but with email again soon.
Cheers Sam
