We were surprisingly impressed by Nha Trang and all it had to offer. There was a great bar/party scene there and you could also buy lobster on the beach for 100, 000 dong (about 6AUD) which we all indulged in. It was a great way to spend an afternoon - sitting on the beach eating lobster and drinking beer.
Bri arranged to do his scuba diving course for a couple of days so the rest of us decided to head out on a party boat one day. We visited a cave and a few different islands and at one point Matt got up and danced in front of the 40 strong crowd - very funny. Kahls also took the opportunity to go Parasailing which she loved. There was also a floating bar which would have been good had someone not gone to the toilet and Sammy seen the remnants of this float by as we relaxed in the water. Gross! Kahls and Kate also rented a jet ski and were felt up by the local who took them riding. I think in the end he copped a slap from them so hopefully he learnt his lesson. When we were snorkeling on this trip Sammy found a dead lobster and threw it at the girls which they weren't too impressed with. They both swam away screaming and swearing at him.
The following day Kahls and I decided to be ladies of leisure and go and get massages. We were ushered into a small room with lockers and prompted to take off our clothes and leave them locked up there. We asked the guy to leave but he responded with 'It's ok, I'm just locker boy' we cracked up laughing and kicked him out anyway. Later on when we were upstairs covered in towels and being massaged by girls they would flash the boys (who worked there) when they walked past by lifting up the towels and giggling. I wasn't too impressed and could only just see the humor in it. I think I'm a little traumatized by the experience as I haven't had another massage since!
On Bri's last dive day all of us except Sian decided to head out on the boat with him for some diving. We swam through caves and saw lots of interesting things that our dive master would point out to us. All of us were qualified except for Kahls who did her first dive and loved it! It was so great to see her under the water looking at us through the cave. The boat we went out on was really spacious with comfortable deck chairs for lazing around in and sun baking.
We had a great last night out in Nha Trang where everybody danced, played pool and drunk a lot. Sammy and I had an awesome game of pool against an Irish girl who was pretty great herself- we flogged her! I even sunk some of the balls myself. We moved on to a beach party where Bri did a voodoo disappearance and ended up back at his hotel where Kate found him around 1am. He was passed out on the bathroom floor but very apologetic for worrying everyone (He'd only come back for water but fell asleep). Sammy also fell asleep, on the beach, and us girls laughed when we found him and Matt lying together on the beach with their elephant bags, Sammy asleep and Matt not realizing and still talking to him. It was a fun night.
We were all hung over the next day so after checking out of our hotel we headed to the beach to relax before catching the night bus on to Hoi An. Kate got her legs epilated by a lady with a piece of string (interesting), and Kahs got her nails painted - so convenient. We were all sitting around chatting when we heard a few screams from the water. We looked around to see everyone running from the water as a dead dog floated by. It was really really gross but shamefully funny to watch as everyone played obliviously in the water and then freaked out when they saw the dead dog. So glad we weren't in the water at that point. No one went in again either. We also saw a lady selling goods be chased by security guards down the beach. It was so funny as she ran into the water to get away from them. They didn't follow her in as they didn't want to get their shoes wet. We think she was being chased for selling in front of the resort where she wasn't allowed too. We last saw her being escorted off the beach by security.
It was a great couple of days in Nha Trang and we were excited to be heading on to Hoi An which we hoped would be equally as good.
