From Franz Josef we headed to Lake Wanaka where the weather was a lot better! It was really sunny all day so we had a little stroll by the lake and had an ice cream. Yesterday was such a nice warm, sunny day, so naturally it was rainy today as we went on our mini glacier hike! It took us about 40 minutes to walk from the bus drop off to the edge of the glacier, then it was straight on to the ice! Luckily we took lots of warm clothes it was quite cold for most of the journey, and the rain didn't help! It was a bit crazy on the US election day over here! We walked into the tv room to find two Americans glued to the screen (One of them was wearing a 'Go Obama' t-shirt) and they educated us a bit on their election. when Obama won the American lady kept taking photos of the tv screen (she must have had about 100 photos of the news reader, and I'm not even kidding!) and then they whipped out some champagne and gave us a glass to celebrate with them! From Nelson we headed to Abel Tasman Park-it's a really nice area with a few beaches and lots of mountains, and apparently a few treks if you're that way inclined (which we aren't!)
