Sam the all star Trecker
After 5 hours on the coach we arrived in Kuala Lumpar. all the massive buildings and bright lights were very exciting! Much different to what we had been used to for the last three weeks and a definate improvement on the dirtiness of Bangkok. We found a nice hostel to stay in where we had our own room but shared a shower and bathroom etc. Quite exciting though as the first hostel we had been in as the rest of Thailand was just little bungalows for 2 really! Went to Times Square on the bus after trying to explain to the driver where we wanted to go! Arrived and times square was massive! A proper take on New York I think. I was being brave and insisted to Vicky we try some typical Malaysian cuisine so ended up in some restaurant surrounded by Malayasians where we didnt understand anything on the menu. The waiter was very kind and insisted we try some of their home made Malaysian food with gravy. He put a load of what I can only call slurp in a bowl and asked me to taste. I pleasantly obliged however it wasnt the greatest so decided to go for the curry instead! It was out in front of us and we were pleasantly surprised until we bit into it and the lumps of chicken were actual lumps of bone which you had to try and find the chicken off amongst the curry!! It wasnt pleasant so left it and decided that we were clever for trying some but probably wouldnt be eating Malaysian style again. So we headed for the big shopping centre and brought a big piece of cheese cake from the most amazing bakers. Anyway after looking round the unbelievable shopping centre which was like ten thousand stories high we headed on the tube (get us being adventurous with the transport) to find the Famous Twin Towers. After getting quite lost (dont know how as the Twin Towers are like the second tallest buildings in the world so you would have thought we would have been able to see them) we found the towers and the sight was amazing. There were waterfalls and bright lights and inside the towers was a massive concert hall and the floors and walls etc were just amazing. It was very romantic and atmospheric. Me and Vic got dragged into the shops so didnt manage to make it far up the towers but we were already so overwhelmed! Anyway headed back to our hostel ready for a trip to Singapore the next day! It was a nice taster of the very bustling Kuala Lumpar!
