Bula Everybody!
Well we thought we would be in LA by now and writing this from there but due to a Cyclone (Hurricane) we ended up having to stay longer in Fiji.
We left for the Robinson Crusoe Island on the 24th and after an hours drive and a 30 minute boat ride we caught sight of our home for the next 5 nights (or so we thought). When we arrived we were greeted by people singing and playing the guitar, the weather was perfect. During lunch we watched the Island show which consisted of dancing and knife and fire dancing. All of which of great and after checking in to our little beach hut we went for a swim in the sea and that evening after dinner we were made 'Islanders' after drinking Kava. Kava is a drink that Fijans drink to toast new arrivals and have done centurys. It is a drink made of a 'pepper' plant root and can make you feel very stoned!
The next days we spent sunbathing, swimming, snokelling, kayaking and making Coconut jewellery all of which was great fun but after 5 nights we were ready to leave and start travelling again. Unfortunately, as always, the weather had different plans and a Cyclone was on its way. If you think you are having bad weather at home then you are mistaken.
The Cyclone came the night before we were due too fly out so we thought we would have time to get the flight the next day. We stayed up that night and amazingly, even though the winds were around 70-80 Khm the guys still put on a show which was great but eventunly we were told to stay in our huts and ride it out, the rest of the night was quite bumpy as you can imagine.
The next day we got up and everything looked ok, a few fallen trees and a load of plants in the sea, but nothing to bad so thought we would still be able to our flight, the main land had a much worse time and all the roads were flooded so after a while it became clear we were going no where so we changed our flights (free, still flying home on the 20th) and checked in again, the next two days on the Island were terrible as it rained constantly and when it rains in Fiji theres nothing to do.
We finally made it to thhe airport now and are due to fly out soon! Thank god! Speak to you all when we land in LA!
Loads of love to all.
Vinaka!
