Couldn't resist getting up early to watch the Royal Wedding LIVE! I felt so much more connected to it since I had just visited Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey and seen first hand the preparations being made for the wedding. Got myself pulled together and then set out for the 3.5 hour drive to San Antonio. The sun was shining and I was singing to the radio as I navigated the way. I arrived to the job fair and was shocked to see that of the entire region only 10 districts were signed up for the job fair. Only 4 of the districts were in the county we will live in. 2 of them barely had teaching jobs much less a music position and 2 of them didn't even bother to show up. To make matters worse I found out that my Oregon and Alaska "highly qualified" teaching licenses and my masters degree with 8 years of experience count for ZERO here and I have to start over taking state tests for music, pedagogy, and general education in order to get my Texas license. I left early and went to look at a house which was not at all how it looked online. Drove to Lackland AFB and found the Family Readiness Center hoping to get some help with the job/housing search, but everyone had left early for a base event.
I'd like to say that I took all of this in stride, but in reality I had a good cry, had a drink and went to bed early. Tomorrow will start new. :)
