To say the very least I've had a VERY eventful week. Absolutely one of the best that I've had since arriving in Costa Rica.
If I wasn't already excited enough just to go to Guanacaste to spend the weekend with Kaitlin and her family, our director came to our classroom Monday morning and wanted to see who would be interested in going to a "futbol" game. As my love for soccer is growing definitely wanted to take this opportunity. It was Heredia the city and province that I live in agains Saprissa which is the province of San Jose. These two teams are huge rivals. Making for a very interesting game.
Think of all the fans football, baseball and nascar all in one statium. This was a rowdy crowd. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the crowd go crazy through the whole game, and even joined when the game got really close. Sadly Heredia lost but it was a pretty close game.
On Friday I readied myself to take a final then to head to be spoiled completely in Guanacaste. Although I had to put in a lot of effort to concentrate to take my test it took an hour then Kait and I were on the road to Guanacaste. Just to begin the weekend of living like royalty Kaits parents got us a tour van to drive us straight from school to the resort in grand fashion.
When we arrived we were greated with huge hugs from her parents. Exactly what I have been wanting is some parental love. It didn't take us long to become accustom to how we would be living for the weekend. Our room was massive and there was food and drinks everywhere for us to enjoy.
We spent the entire weekend alternating between soaking up the sun and spending time in the water. We tried paddle boarding which is much more challenging in the ocean than in a lake.
In the evenings we ate too much and enjoyed a few drinks.Which often were much needed to enjoy the entertainment provided at the resort. The first night the cast put on Grease, which normally is my favorite musical but since each of the members of the cast is from Costa Rica seeing a tica in a blonde wig trying to play Sandy really ruined it for. The next show we caught was on our last night and they did a not so amazing job of representing the life of Michael Jackson. It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't try to lipsync songs they don't really know.
Come Monday we were not excited to head back to the city. Life was perfect laying by the pool all day having a nice tico man bring us drinks.
When we returned back to the city however we had to face real life. Which this week included finding out that Kait's mama tica was getting into trouble for have 2 students from different programs living with her and she was being asked to move out.
Worked out pretty well for us though since because it was so far into the semester they made an exception to their rule andlet Kait move into my mama tica's house. Since mama tica didn't want her to live upstairs alone she had me move upstairs too.The rooms up here were set up weird so after some rearranging furnature we found that it fit best if both of us have our beds in the big room instead of trying to share the smaller one that already had two beds in it. When we moved my bed into the big room I'm pretty sure mama tica thought we were nuts. But this isn't anything new to me. Sharing a room with one person is still not as challengingas sharing my living space with 3 others and sleeping space with 5 others. This is a pieve of cake.
Also, up here has some amazing views.
I'll write again next week.
My love from Costa Rica!
