Lost in translation!
We got a taxi to the German Bakery today, a lovely big cafe on a recommendation from Becki. Great place to eat! Then it was "should we walk back a bit of the way" because we were stuffed? We checked Google maps and decided to get to the beach by foot then get a taxi. Fancy that! Google maps gets it wrong just like at home! We got to a dead end. A locked gate. A motorbiker rocked up with his kid behind him and told us it was private property. Uh oh! Just like Rowley Fields Allotments!! Doesnt matter how many times i have informed google maps that the allotment route cannot be used to get through to Great Central way- they always try to send me that way. They say they are always glad of feedback too! Anyway- He, the biker, was a born Goan that mostly lived in Croydon and we exchanged things we knew of that neck of the world. So he decided let us in and showed us the way through with just a MINOR warning that he had trodden on a scorpion yesterday and there were snakes and monkeys in the jungle!! Bloody hell! That stopped us feeling tired and got us tip toeing as fast as we could through the jungle path! Talk about feeling jumpy. Ah but it was easy ( said no one) and finally there was the beach a long way down some rocks and shanty buildings everywhere. Again not quite what I had imagined.
We found a taxi place and they said they would bring us back home. So I also did some marvellous haggling for a taxi to Palolem tomorrow. We have new taxi friends!! I have their number in my phone under Sanjay Texi!
All set now for moving on South to Palolem. Cannot wait! I would like to say that's our final destination but that film really freaked me out. So let's just leave it at that!
I'm on holiday in a beautiful random country and I'm excited to get our washing back from the laundry. I worry about myself sometimes. But my sister always gets me. She would totally understand the thrill of clean laundry! I miss her!
