Everyone slept well after the mad rush last night, and the girls woke up buzzing and eager to explore. They were very pleased we had to stay on the ship all day as well! We had another Italian style breakfast (read minimal) and made straight for the playroom. We pretty much had free run of the place as the only children in there. It was again, minimal, but a big space with floor decorated like a river with a bridge, a playhouse and some tables and chairs. I went down to see if the wellness centre was open, which the lady keen for business assured me was. Thanks to the cheap prices and our enforces availability for the day, I booked Jason and myself in for a 2 hr session each - facial and massage! Jason went first as I wanted to prolong re anticipation and I didn't want to be envious of him come the afternoon! The kids and I played, and played, and played, and played some more! Mostly in the playroom but we did visit the video games room, and had a morning drink. Jason arrived back around 12:30 looking very relaxed and glowing, so we all went for lunch together. Very cafeteria style, mass made food. Although I didn't really care as was just counting down to my massage! We went back to the cabin so all could have a rest and I went to my appointment.
Aah the bliss. That massage was the best I've had in ages and I was semi stuporous all through the facial afterwards. Absolutely zoned out.
After surfacing and reluctantly rejoining the masses we passes the rest o the time wandering the outside decks and...playing. Late afternoon we went to the car and patiently waited to dock, then as Jason started the car ready to leave...it didn't. Flat battery as we hasn't unplugged the fridge in yesterdays haste! Luckily we were on the top cardeck so the boathand and I pushed the car to the top of the ramp and Jason managed to roll start it. Phew.
We went for a small drive (to charge the battery) before going to the apartment and already notice a big difference. The city is clean, modern, sure of itself. We felt back in civilisation! I had booked an apartment for 3 nights in the old town, which is a fab location, but mostly pedestrianised and impossible to get close to in the car. A mildly arduous end to the day, checking in at an affiliated hotel, parking at their carpark and then walking miles to the apartments with all our luggage, pusher and tired children. We dumped everything and went around the corner onto La Ramblas for tapas, where I proceeded to get tipsy on 2 gin and tonics thanks to their enormous measures! Late to bed, but a nice evening. The restaurant staff were great with the kids, and gave the girls paper and pens to draw with. Emily took some time drawing an anatomically correct family portrait! Clever girl.
