Jason was up early to photocopy documents and get to the post office at opening time to post off more evidence for Australia House regarding his visa application. Am feeling unsure whether it will come through in time, but will try to stay out of it. We all had another lovely breakfast in the hotel - Emily enjoys acting all grown up and ser…
Lucy Loving little Miss Meg - she's going to bring lots of giggles and smiles over here in a few months.
re: Hirzburg Camping, Freiburg, GermanyLucy might have to make a special effort to go via Heidelberg in winter... Have wanted to, but you're inspiring me.
re: Langenwald Camping, Black Forest, GermanyLucy Glad you got to try guf & floedeboller... and brunsviger... it's a treat there, even my recipe is not quite the same as the local version... totally worth giving a go in DK. Sounds like a perfect camp site, must keep that in mind. the boys would love to go back to LegoLand... M has his mind on the lego driving school cars, so might have to get back to Europe one summer (rather than Dan's preferred winter) in a few years.
re: Legoland Camping, Billund, DenmarkLucy I remember struggling to get my head around the ages of things... it's astounding... as you say, walking into a church with a skeleton of a viking king that's 800 years old...
re: Skagen, DenmarkLucy sounds exhausting. tough keeping everyone happy all the time, hey? x
re: Hotel Am Rasthaus, Heidelberg, GermanyLucy love the rainbow photo!
re: Bergen, NorwayLucy mmmm.... fish market... did the kids see the big troll at the top of Mt Floyen?
re: Bergen, NorwayLucy your mum would love reading your lovely tales of adventure... No doubt she'd be reminiscing too! I'm sure she's enjoying watching your family having such a special adventure together. x
re: Gullvag, near Trondheim, NorwayLucy maybe the London and Melbourne train services could get some tips from the regional ferry companies in Norway? They are great. Aren't the Stave churches beautiful! I went to a christening service at one when I visited in 98, I loved the local traditional dress the families were wearing... very special cultural preservation.
re: Alesund, NorwayLucy there may be minimal immigration (it's mighty tough for anyone to get in, even if they marry and have Danish children!) but I'm sure you would also find there's a somewhat ethnocentric undertone that's can be a bit unsettling. Did the girls try the 'guf' on top of their icecreams? like a whipped egg-white mix - very special Danish 'treat'. Very flat country, hence the cycling culture is huge everywhere - cars are legally obliged to give way to cyclists, cyclists are so much safer there than I've ever noticed before. I love seeing what people wear on bikes there too... it's not uncommon to see high suits, heels and skirts. It's a good thing they ride so much, with all that rich food and all those awful pastries!!!
re: Copenhagen, DenmarkLucy Tivoli is gorgeous... contemplating wandering through with Dan when we are there in December (without kids) as it will be all lit up for Christmas and is very special. But yes, Denmark is markedly expensive. Glad you enjoyed Tivoli though. Rides are very suited to the littlies.
re: Ballerup, Copenhagen, DenmarkLucy it's the simple things in life that are often the best ;)
