We arrive in Iquique at about 5am, on the bus ride in in see loads of tramps and some definite dodgy looking characters so although the plan was to walk the 10 blocks we decide to get a taxi. When we get to the hostel re beds already made and we jump in an go to sleep until mid morning. When we wake up we go for a wonder and find the supermarket for food. We then hit the beach for a couple hours. For some reason chile has skinted us and we mooch wondering what to do as there isn't much anyways. We both put a bit of money into the account to actually do something which changes the mood instantly. Go and grab a couple beers and see the town has to offer at night. When we go out we only find one bar, which I think was a gay bar, but being the only one about we have a couple beers in there anyways. The cheque comes and it's 6000, I give him and 5000 note and a 10000 note thinking it was a 1000. When I realise what I've done it go up and try to explain the situation to which the bar man denies it. What a dick. He won't accept it and throws us out so we are now basically in the same position as we were before we put money in! We head back thoroughly annoyed. On the way back I kick a bush which turns out to be a cactus thing. With my foot pissing out with blood we go to sleep completely demotivated. Next day we decide to get out of chile and completely bypassing Arica in chile and organising a bus to Tacna, Peru for the next day. The rest of the day is filled by going to the beach to get crashes by the waves. Nothing special, just waiting for our bus out of chile. Next day we wake and watch tv literally waiting for the bus. It's a shame cos chile is really nice but it's just too expensive for our budget.
