We arrived in Krabi Town at around 2ish in the afternoon, we organised a place to stay at a travel shop where the bus dropped us off. The standard of the hostel we stayed at was a bit low but it was cheap so we were happy to stay. We were meeting Marc that evening, another of my friends coming over to join us, he was just a few weeks behind the others due to work commitments. Marc had stayed in Phuket the previous evening and was due to get to Krabi and hook up with us later on that evening. We all decided to go out and try and find a swimming pool we could use as we were not by the coast in Krabi town. We found only one that was in walking distance but it was awful! Tiny and very dirty water with a bed of leaves across the top of it! We decided to give it a miss and went back to the hostel for a siesta.
After our afternoon Kip, all of us except Janek (who wanted more sleep) went for a drink at a really cool sky bar just up the road, you had to walk up about a million steps to finally arrive on the roof, but it was definitely worth it as the views were breathtaking! We then went back to the hostel to get Jan but he had left already, we now had to hopefully bump into him as none of us had any credit on our phones at this point. We walked round for a bit and then went into this cool looking locals bar, luckily just after we had walked in we saw Jan walk past so we ran out and grabbed him and all was good. Marc had called to say he had arrived at the hostel and James went round to get him and show him the way back. A few minutes later James returned with Marc and we all said our hellos and then, to my amazement, Chops (another one of my friends) came walking into the pub! Absolutely shocking!!! I had no idea he was coming to Thailand, I had been in contact with him and he had said nowt, he had managed to completely keep any word of his departure off facebook and all the lads had kept it quiet too. I was chuffed to bits! We were all then obviously in really good spirits and up for a good catch up and a big night out. We moved on to a bar to get some food and more drinks and then got a taxi to the more lively part of town called Ao Nang. There was a small stretch of bars that was mental, packed with people and good tunes pumping out. The only problem with it was too many prostitutes, hundreds of them! We had a really good night though and stayed out until the early hours.
The next morning, me and Sar woke up very hungover to a knock at the door, it was some of the lads saying that they were going check out and move down to Ao Nang as it seemed a better place to stay, more going on there and it was by the beach. We were in two minds whether to go or not as we were so tired and check out was in fifteen minutes time! We decided to go for it and rushed about getting our suitcases all packed up.
We managed to secure a really nice hotel in Ao Nang. Courtesy of being in a big group and therefore getting four rooms, they did it for a just over a tenner a room, shocking when you consider how nice it was. We all went out for lunch and then decided to head down to the beach. On our way down to the beach the heavens opened and we took cover in an Irish pub! :) The rain didn't stop and we stayed in the Irish pub for the remainder of the day, it was a good laugh. We played pool and darts and everyone was just having a really good time. We headed back to the hotel as some of the others wanted to go out again, Sarah was still shattered from last night so decided not to go out, I went out but didn't last that long as I too was still feeling the effects of the night before! The next day me and Sar chilled in most of the day, ordered in a pizza (Chops being the delivery boy!) We only went out to book our travel to Ko Samui for the next morning. We then went back to the room and just watched films on the Netbook.
We were picked up the next morning at 11o'clock and we only just made the bus as the boys were a nightmare to get up and be ready being as they had been out most of the night! We just about made the bus, though the driver and the other passengers did not look best pleased as they had been waiting half an hour! The bus dropped us of at the port and we caught the ferry to Ko Samui passing the time by playing cards on the boat, cards flying everywhere in the wind!!! lol.
