The hotel that we ended up choosing was called Lanta Pavilion, it was the cheapest, it had a pool and it had temperamental WI-FI, which all in all makes a pretty good deal. To get there we, once again, sat in the back of a truck - yay! When we arrived we had lunch - which was expensive but lovely - and met the funniest waiter we've had yet! His name is 'Boy' and although he was really sweet, what made him so funny was that he fancied Janek, loads! From the first day he kept repeating his name/calling him for no reason... he'd say 'Janie' and then just smile at him! And Janek (although he regularly gets gay attention) just got really shy which made it even funnier! After lunch I was tired and so I went for an afternoon nap while the boys played in the pool. That evening Janek taught all of us amateurs how to play poker (well the basics anyway).
The next day was my birthday, the morning was pretty standard, we just had breakfast and chilled and stuff, until Ki checked the internet... and ran back to tell me that everyone from my family was desperately trying to track us down! They'd even added the boys as friends! This worried me a little because I didn't think they would go to so much effort to say happy birthday, especially when it wasn't even my birthday yet in England! We figured it must have been some amazing news about my sisters band, but then Ki and I went for a lovely walk along the beach and decided that because there was nothing on facebook, it meant it wasn't Jo's band, it was big news that they didn't want everyone to know, which could only mean someone had won the lottery! (we hoped anyway).
When we got back I went to the room and Ki told me to put something nice on for lunch. I suspected that he had me a cake and a card so I didn't ask any questions and did as I was told. :) When we walked up to the dining area, I saw all the lads sat around a table with loads of balloons and ribbons and a pile of presents on the table! I was sooo chuffed, and shocked! When I sat down, Ki got the video camera out and they all sang happy birthday to me and watched me open my presents, there were five presents, one from each of the boys - so sweet! And they all signed my 'Happy New Year' card too! Hehe. I got a beautiful dress, some Chocolate (Ferrero Rocher & peanut M&Ms) a lovely necklace and some conditioner. I was so touched by it all because they had evidently listened to me over the past three weeks and each gotten me something they knew I liked! Bless! After I had opened all of my presents we ate lunch, I thought I'd had my lot but then just to add to the loveliness the staff bought out a cake for me - which after everything, I was no longer expecting. The boys had all paid for it to be specially made and it said 'Happy Birthday Sar' on it! I was soo chuffed! They sang happy birthday again and Boy made a very funny video - he calls 'Janie' on it! :)
After lunch we sat around a low table on cushions on the beach, the bar staff gave me a free mojito- nice! and we sat and played poker - again! The first few games we had played the night before had just been for fun but people didn't mind loosing, so we put 20THB (40p) each on each game to spice it up a little, and boy, did it work! Half an hour games turned into 4hr+ games! Lol. While we were playing I got a Skype call from my mom who explained that they were all searching for me because they had made me a birthday message video! I was well chuffed (obviously, it was better than winning the lottery!). I loaded the video up and then everyone watched it with me, I really had to try the hardest ever not to cry, it was soo lovely! Jo had written a song about me and my whole family made a video to go with it! It is so well done! I was shocked, and all of the boys were well impressed and kept telling me how lucky I was to have a family like I have. I really did feel very loved, with the surprise lunch from the lads and the video from my family, everyone had gone to so much effort and I was so grateful and happy!
On the evening of my birthday we planned to go to a black-moon party which was a little way down the beach. After we had gotten ready to go out we had a few drinks on Dan & Stu's balcony and made a birthday video for my Gran (her 80th was coming up soon). We then went to the hotel bar had had a good drink there (a few buckets and shots) before attempting to get to the party. On the way we decided to go into another bar, it was pretty empty but we soon livened it up! And, as does happen when you're having a good time, we ended up staying there for the rest of the night! We were smashed! When we finally went back to the hotel we decided it would be a good idea to go for a swim in the pool (this doesn't seem to be against the rules in S.E.Asia), and it was fun... even if it did end up with a scary Russian throwing sun-loungers at us! Anybody would think night-time is for sleeping! :)
The hangover the next day was as heavy as the night before! So we just played poker and had lots of very funny banter with the really sound hotel staff! 'Janie' finally believed us that Boy was into him when we caught him staring straight at him for an uncomfortably long amount of time! After which Janek was quite obviously feeling awkward which made the situation all the more funny! Mwahahaha. The following morning we were picked up by our bus at 7am to go to Krabi. Early doors! because we were supposed to be meeting Marc at about 11am the same day (we didn't actually meet him until about 9pm, lol) nothing eventful happened on the journey, except that Janek was crying about leaving Boy! - Only joking! :)
