Just a quick update on our travels!
Well, yesterday we had a 6hour journey from Cairns to Townsville which was a bit of a killer but worth it. Our hostel is nice and we have an ensuite room which is handy. Yesterday afternoon we just went for a walk around Townsville and then walked up Castle Hill to a lookout which was mega hard (in flip flops) but the views were great. We then walked back down and popped to the supermarket to stock up on supplies. We cooked fajitas last night which were yummy and we had them with salad as we're trying to be good! The rest of the evening was spent watching Pop Idol which was good because the contestants got to play their own instruments. Even Chris enjoyed it! The result is tonight so I hope my favourite doesn't go!
Today, we have enjoyed a trip to Magnetic Island which is 8km from Townsville. We got there by boat which only tok 25minutes each way which was good. Guess what we did all day? You got it - walked walked walked! Chris took me on a HUGE walk which was about 6kms long and so hard in the heat. Magnetic Island has 320 days of sunshine a year so you can imagine how gorgeous the weather was but that makes it hard to walk in. It was so steep at times (I'm glad we wore trainers) but the views were great. Was worth it, even if I did moan lots! We did 2 walks in total, one around a mountain and another to the Forts which was really interesting. We got a 360 degree view from the top of the Forts walk so we enjoyed it very much! We even saw a snake, a koala and lots of lizards all on our tracks which was pretty amazing! Surely we must have burnt lots of caloires in the 3hours trekking! Well I hope so because after the walks we got the bus to Horeshoe bay which was nice and we enjoyed our packed lunch on a shady bench and then we got the bus to Picnic Bay where we enjoyed a 2 scoop Ice cream each! yum yum! A scoop of chocloate and a scoop of macadamia ice cream was just what we needed! hehehe! We'd certainly earnt it!
We got the boat back at 4.10pm and have just been packing and doing some washing as we move on again tomorrow! We have a 12hour bus journey to Mount Isa which lasts from 7am, until 7pm so it'll be a big day but I'm looking forward to catching up on some sleep!!!!! I've got lots of kwells ready so it should be fine. Bit exciting as we're now starting to make our way into the Outback - yeehaa!
