Sair and Chris on the move
Wow, where shall we start!
Well, Byron bay was mage chilled and enjoyable. We walked 10km to a lighthouse where we enjoyed some great views. We alson saw a pod of whales in the distance which was great. We went to a market on the sunday which was really hippy but sorta cool. We enjoyed a wander around it and soaked up the atmosphere.
From Byron Bay came Brisbane which was an amazing city. We stayed in a fantastic hostel which was run by a lovely couple so that just made it. We went on a cruise to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (where I heald the Koala), a trip to the Zoo (which was great but also moving with Steve Irwin's tributes) and we took a tour around the XXXX brewery. The best bit of the brewery tour was the free 4 x 285ml of different beers they do and I enjoyed it! don't know if that's a good thing or not! Bad for the figure that's for sure.
Well, after a great week in Brisbane we didn't really want to leave but we're now in Hervey day and we're doing great. There's not much to do but we're enjoying chilling for a change as the city of Brisbane really took it out of us. Yesterday, we wandered around the coast and walked along a huge pier and saw some lovely views. There's pelicans everywhere which is lovely to see. Well, we spent the morning doing that and realising there aren't any shops but hey it'll do us good. So, we spent the afternoon by the pool (in the shade as it is 29c at the mo) and read books and magazines.
Well, today we went on a whale watching tour which was AMAZING! We saw about 40 whales in total and about 30 of those were close up. What an experience! The whole trip was 4hours long and 2 of those were full of spotting whales. We've got some GREAT photos. It's practically the best time to spot the lovely creatures as they are currently travelling south with their new calves towards the Antartic for winter. We were amazed at how many we saw.
Well, tomorrow we've got a day trip to Fraser Island which is the largest sand island in the WORLD! It contains more sand than the Sahara desert - check out that fact! Well, we're expecting to get covered in sand so i've got my flip flops and bikini ready. The trip sounds amazing as we get to swim in fresh water lakes and go by 4WD across the island. How exciting! We've got another early start though as the bus is going to be picking us up at 8am! We'll let you know how it goes!
We're planning on cycling 20km around the coast of Friday to the furthest point in Hervey Bay. It'll do us good to burn some calories as we're getting a bit partial to a schooner (size of beer) in the afternoon! Gosh it is a hard life!
Well, I think we've got lots of chilling ahead of us as I think Airlie Beach (where we are going on Saturday) and Mission Beach (where we are going after Airlie) are pretty similar to here. We're happy though as we love reading our books and boy am I getting a tan already. I'm not even sun bathing and am already a nice shade of brown. Bring on the tan for Christmas! WOOHOO!
