G'day
We're in Tennant Creek and it's mighty hot. Today it got to 37c which is super super hot and to be honest hard to cope with.
Well, we arrived at 4am this morning after leaving the horrible Mount Isa hospital behind. Seriously, that hostel was creepy, it was just like a hospital (long corridors, the toilets, even a bloody zimmer frame in the corridor - I think it was probably an old peoples home at one point.) Well, whatever it was I couldn't stay there any longer. After a hissy fit to Chris he suggested we move on earlier as I really wasn't comfortable so here we are in Tennant Creek a day earlier! Our first impressions of this hostel were a lot better as the nice English owner picked us up from the bus terminal at 3.30am - what service hey! The hostel is small but nice so we're ok!
Today, we had a lie in and then wandered to the supermarket to get supplies. With it being so hot it's tough walking about but we made it. Oh and we're getting used to the lovely smelling abolriginal people. God the outback is such an experience - I really will be ready for normality when we get to Adelaide! Anyway, we had lunch in the hostel and then walked to a Aboriginal art centre but it all seemed closed so it was a wasted trip. We then sat in the room in bikini and swim shorts, in front of the fan, reading our books. After some reading we went for a swim in the pool which was just what we needed to cool off.
We've just had showers, done some washing and we're going to have our tea soon. Spam, mushrooms, eggs and beans on toast in on the menu tonight.Yum yum!
Well, tomorrow we're going on a trip to see the Devlils Marbles which is a collection of boulders in the middle of nowhere. They've got a lot of history behind them so it should be good. We get a steak BBQ on the tour too so that should be interesting. It's an all day tour so we set off at 10.30am and don't return until 5.30pm - think we'll be real tired after that.
We also leave Tennant Creek tomorrow too. Well, I say tomorrow but it's more Sunday as our bus doesn't leave until 3am! We get to Alice Springs at 9am though so we'll hopefully sleep lots so that we can enjoy our first day in Alice. We're staying for a total of 5nights so we've got lots of time to explore. Our tour to Ayers Rock is on Wednesday so that's also exciting!
Some exciting news for you - we are now 8.5hours ahead of you rather than 9 as we are in Northern Territory. All a bit pointless if you ask us but hey!
Well, that's pretty much it from us!
