Hi Everyone
We have travelled so far through Ireland now and seen so many beautiful sights that every day we are excited by the next adventure.
Since I last wrote a blog entry, we have travelled from Tramore to Waterford, Dungarven, Cobh, Cork, Kenmare and right around the Ring of Kerry. Unfortunately, the beauty of the scenery during the drive around the Ring was missed because it was raining heavily and the mountains were covered by cloud, while much of the rest was covered by a thick fog. We did manage to catch some glimpses of the coast!
We don't mind though, because we have never let the weather interfere with our travel plans! We always do what we planned because 'it's all part of the travel experience'.
One of our highlights has been to see the Cliffs of Moher. Oh, they were so beautiful. The photo I chose for this blog entry is actually of John sitting on one of the cliffs taking some gorgeous photos. Another highlight has been some of the towns and villages which are great to wander around. Killarney and Galway were wonderful.
We stayed in a great B&B in Killarney. Happy to pass on details of any part of our trip to our family and friends who are planning to travel to the UK and Ireland!!
I do have to say that John has done an amazing job of ALL the driving. The plan was that we would share that task, but OMG!!! No! I just can't do it!
There are several 'issues' for me, but the main one is the number of SKINNY, winding, hedge - covered/fenced country roads we have had to drive on where there is barely room for one car and then a bus or a truck bounces around the corner!!! Mr Cool, Calm and Collected just swings into action, handling the situation with the greatest of ease, while I sit next to him grabbing my seatbelt, SCREAMING out all kinds of words that as a good Catholic girl in Ireland, I shouldn't be allowing to leave my lips!!!! I've said to John over and over and over that I JUST CAN'T DO IT! I can't drive!!!!
But, back to where we are currently...
Today we drove from Castlebar to Donegal, where we visited Donegal Castle. We then drove on to Ardara, where I bought a beautiful Donegal tweed cape from the mill. Next stop was Letterkenny, where we are staying tonight.
Tomorrow we will explore the north west peninsulas, before crossing the border into Northern Ireland, ready to stay tomorrow night in Londonderry. Then, on to Belfast!
Love to all...
Sorry, I'm a bit slow with my photo albums! It all depends on whether I can access the internet.
Until my next entry,
Cheers,
Sadie
