Hi Everyone!
Before we left to go on our trip, our friends, Trish and Pam, introduced us to Beate and Wolfgang from Buhl, in southern Germany. They have been friends for many, many years. Beate and Wolfgang very kindly invited John and me to stay with them for the two days we were going to be visiting that part of Germany. Well, let me tell you all about it!
After picking us up from Karlsruhe station, Beate and Wolfgang took us on a wonderful walking tour of Baden - Baden. This is such a beautiful city, with so much history!
They then completely spoiled us with a sunset dinner at one of their historic castles overlooking the Rhine Valley. We could see all the little townships, the Black Forest and the Rhine river. Absolutely spectacular!
On Saturday, Beate and Wolfgang drove us through the Black Forest in both their convertibles, to a wonderful historic village where houses from centuries ago are on display. They are original houses! The earliest one on display was built in 1599! That is incredible! Have a look at the photos!
After exploring these beautiful old houses, Beate and Wolfgang drove us to a very special establishment in the Black Forest to have - Black Forest cake!!! Absolutely the best we have ever eaten!
As if that wasn't all special enough, we spent Saturday night at another castle - the castle for Buhl - celebrating its 800th anniversary! Yes, 800 years!!! You must look at the photos in the album. People were dressed in classic Mediaeval costumes and we saw sword fights and magic fire displays!
This morning we travelled from Karlsruhe to Paris and tomorrow we head back to London on the Eurostar. Tuesday will be Lauren's 30th birthday!!!!!!!
We love you all very much!

Mitchell Unsurprisingly all of these blog entries and photos give life to a destination far better than those I've had the dubious pleasure of visiting of late: A-hell-aide! Glad you're having so much fun. Make sure you're well-rested when you get home though there's plenty of housework to be done! xox Love you both lots
