Our first performance on our concert tour was in the beautiful Franciscan Church of Bratislava. The Franciscan is the oldest church in the city, dating back to the 13th century! After being greeted by the monks and three special guest horn players from Brno, Czech Republic, we got right to work (rehearsal photo above). After a hearty breakfast we were ready to learn more about Slovakia's capital city. Our local guides gave us a detailed orientation of the city's history and architechure, from its Celtic Beginnings through its hard times under Communism, before we set out in groups to explore the old town on our own. After three flights we were greeted at the Vienna airport by our tour managers, James and Daniel. We then boarded our buses for a short drive to Bratislava, Slovakia. We enjoyed a hearty dinner at Slovak Pub before retiring for some much needed rest.
