On the second day we headed in a mini van to see the ruins. Huacas del Sol y la Luna from Moche culture 100 - 800 AD was a multilayered colourful temple where they had sacrificed many people believing this to keep away earthquakes. We camped at a cute spot in Huanchacho also right on the beach. In the morning we explored the food markets with Beth, stocking up for the 3 days from the friendly locals. Later we checked out the recommended 'chocolate' cafe, enjoying the delicious brownie and other sweet treats. I (Aimee) attempted surfing in the afternoon ending in a lot of bruises and not too much success :)
