Saturday we arrived in "somewhere" Pennsylvania. We drove through the farmland of the Amish countryside. It was the most beautiful farmland we have ever seen. So very different from the flat fields we see in our part of the country. We took a quick stop in Colonial Williamsburg and enjoyed a few hours of seeing how life was in colonial times.
On Sunday we drove to Hersey as is was a must-do item for the boys. We had more fun here than we expected. We thought it would be interesting, but hokey and touristy. To our surprise, it was very well managed and we had a tip to buy our tickets early. We took the historic trolley tour through Hershey and learned all about Milton's life and the wonderful opportunities he gave to his employees and community. We even got to make our own chocolate bar. Our day ended with campsite fun of riding bikes, whittling sticks and building a campfire. Oh, and watched Rocky 2 outside with the lightning bugs and stars. All this in prep for our Philly tour tomorrow.
So, this takes us to today....Philly. We toured the usual sites; Independence Hall, Liberty Bell and the Declaration House. We had lunch at Reading Terminal (yes, that one was for dad). Then, we ran the famous steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art as Rocky did. And, it was not competitive at all, ah-hem!
After a long morning, we took the afternoon to hang out at the campsite. Beckett and Bryan went fishing while mom did laundry and Bowen puddled around the campsite looking for wood for the campfire. The boys built a campfire and we made s'mores. Off to bed as we get up early tomorrow and head to Rhode Island.
