Ok guys, so first blog.Greetings from Jakarta!

The flight was long but absolutely fine. For me a couple of firsts; first long haul flight and first time on a plane that big. Janec is a pro at both. We did though get a pillow, blanket and headset for our own personal entertainment system which was in the back of the seat infront. I attempted ti watch furry vengance and the a team but failed as went to sleep. Too much sleep on plane led to sleep problems with jet lag. My opinions of a whole nation are about to be formulated on one no more than an hour vist. Dubai the airport was very bling and shiny and they were very organised. Our initial plane came late but they waited for us and got someone to meet us to get us through the gate and security faster. The lateness of the first flight is dus to, as described by the captain a delay which always happens in the afternoon at Heathrow. You have to wonder how we get away with an airport where the captains are aware there will always be a delay. Wierd!

We are currently staying in Jakarta in a very nice place which is more like somones house. We have come across many problems; we arrived at the end of ramadam which means travel costs a fortune and is very difficult. But we finally today got our tickets to Bali booked but we will have to fly, but we plan to get the train back so this will be cheaper. Ramadam meams that lots of things are closed so its a little tricky in general.

A further unfortunate event is the loss of my phone, I do not know where but what I do know is that I wasn't pickpocketed so my own stupid fault although this does not nake me feel better about it.

I cant say I have fallen in love with Jakarta as it is a big sprawling city. I cant say if i feel this because of the hassles or because as yet I have failed to discover the heart of it.We did find the tourist ghetto where lots of things were open. We found a nice touristy bar. We did make a visit to the national monument but it was so busy we did not get to climb it. Hopefully on our return i'll find parts of Jakarta I prefer.

On the other hand the people are fantastic, every single person we have come across has been only too willing to help.

I found a drink called pacori sweat. There was an advert for this before every comedy show i watched on the flight so I thought it was a wind up. Who exactly would call there drink that. But to my shock ans surprise we found it in a shop. Amazing!

On to Bali tomorrow yay! We are planning on doing nothing for the first four days and when i say nothing i mean i might manage to eat. ive been finding that difficult as my body gets used to the temperature change. Im not sure when I'll next write as not sure when next connection will be.
