I had to stay overnight in Krabi, then left the next day by boat to Langkawi and it took 8 hours by boat. I overstayed in Thailand by one day so i had to pay a 10quid fine! Langkawi was a really nice place, cheap, but quiet! I rented a car out for the day and explored the island. I went to view points, a waterfall, and a "snake sanctuary" which is the worst 3quid ive ever spent in my life.
From Langkawi, I went to Penang which took 3.5 hors by boat. I got in to a taxi and I was asking if he knew anywhere to get cheap alcohol. He said he could take me to a place, but he will have to go in, as its only Malaysians allowed, and its an illegal shop. I checked the price in the 7eleven (supermarket) and it was 1.40p for the cheapest small can which was skol. So he took me to basically a house and bought a bottle of malaysian whisky and twelve cans of JAZ haha it was so much cheaper than the supermarket.
Penang is really not what I was expecting as I have not looked in to much of Malaysia. It is full of Indians and Chinese.
They were banging out the tunes from the mosque for lots of the day which was really annoying, and i got stung by a jelly fish, which was even more annoying!! There where not many backpackers here and when i went out at night time, I could only see Malaysians, but it was still nice to chill on the beach with a can of skol!! I went to eat at the food market which was cool. You sit down and they bring over different menus from different shops...eg a drinks menu, fish menu, rice menu, chicken menu. You order of each menu, and different people bring you different dishes. Was dirt cheap. I had chicken fried rice, two chicken kebabs, and a bottle of sprite for 1.20p, and it was really nice!!
