From Penang to Kuala Lumpur took eight hours by bus, and cost 10 quid. As Ali had already been to KL two days before, he recommended a hostel called Red Dragon, in Chinatown, and said it was five minutes away as you get off the bus. So as I arrived I asked for directions by a taxi driver and he said it was 3.5km away, and it would cost 15 ringots (3 quid). I was tired and thought f*** it, so I got in the taxi. Less than two minutes later, he said that we where here. As I looked out of the taxi window, I saw that he had basically done a big circle, and I could actually see the bus station about one hundred metres away. I f***ing flipped, I was in complete shock. He was saying I must pay as we had agreed on the price. I said I had agreed on a 3.5km journey not a trip around the block, so he took me back to the bus station eventually, and I got out. What a cheeky b****** haha. It took me around two minutes to walk to the hostel from the bus station ha.
As I checked in to the hostel, a typical loud cockney girl came in shouting saying she had just been robbed, by somebody on a motorbike, and her bag had been snatched. I was not too bothered as she was annoying, but it was a good start to my KL expierince, a girl getting robbed and me nearly getting scammed!!
Inside the hostel, it had free internet and a huge tv with lots of copied dvds to put on whenever you wanted, and a few couches to laze about. Its the closest ive felt like I was at home for a long time, which was quality.
There where not too many indians in KL but was filled with chinese. Some of the buildings where incredible, and it was advanced in some ways, but others it was like being back in thailand. I had a look around that night, which was saturday, and it was booming. The bars where filled all down the main road, and was really upmarket. I saw a lamborghini and a ferrari, and many other good cars. I thought f*** it, I will try and get in to a bar. I had a beer vest on, combat shorts and my flip flops which arent the same (still since Phi Phi). Its the first time I have been knocked back since ive been away, so I was shocked. As I looked in to the bar, I could sort of understand why. Everybody was dressed up, some even in suites, and some little scat with different flippo's, n a beer vest is trying to get in haha o well!!
The next day me and a lad from the hostel, Matt went to see first the KL tower (Menara tower) ,which is 421m high and is the fifth biggest tower in the world. It was big, but it just looked a bigger version of the radio city tower!!
Next we went to the petronas towers, which are the worlds biggest twin towers with 88 floors, and they are 452m high. It is definately the most amazing building ive ever seen. The two towers are joined by a skybridge, which is the highest two story skybridge in the world on the 41st and 42nd floor, 170m above ground level. We got a ticket to go on the bridge, and the high speed elevator was doing a floor a second, so we where up in 40 seconds. It was breath taking. You could see the whole city and the top of other buildings, and this was only half the way up, imagine being on the 88th floor!!
On the way back to the hostel a man on a motorbike stopped me and gave me what looked like a business card. It was for a lucky lucky massage and escort service haha. What the f*** do I look like, a sex tourist, im just looking at the sights for f***s sake haha. I kept it as a souvenir!!
I payed to go to the KL tower at night and you could see the lights of the whole city which was good. I got free entry into a animal place and looked in to a snake tank and saw a python in with a chicken. The man working there explained that the chicken was drugged up, and was going to be eaten really soon as the snake kept sizing it up. It looked like it was about to choke it, and i think it probably would have, if everyone was not screaming, like idiots. I was dying to see it. Pretty sick s*** man.
I went back to the petronas towers at night and they where all lit up. They were even more amazing than in the day time!!
That night I clocked a Nando's and as I have been eating green curry, and egg fried rice for weeks, on a budget, I thought I deserved to treat myself. So I got potatoe wedges witrh cheese on, chips and 1/4 chicken, sprite, and chocolate mud pie for desert. I think I actually wee'd a little bit it was that nice, and it only come to 5 quid.....I enjoyed KL
