We left Saigon on a six hour bus journey to Cambodia, Phnom Penh. We got there late and booked into a hostel, and arranged for a driver the next day. The next day we 1st went the shooting range. My plan was to fire a bazooka. I asked a man at the hotel how much it would cost and he said around 300 dollars. More than I expected but I thought you only live once!! We got there and I asked him if I could do it, and he said yes but its 350 dollars, or 400 to shoot at a cow (I wasnt going to do that honest!!). That was over my budget so I never got to fire it. Well gutted. Would of been funny to have on the list of things to do before you die. So i fired a shot gun, ak47, and a tommy gun which were all fun The shotgun hurt my shoulder abit but was well worth it.
Me and ali went to pick up a bullet as a souvenier, but the man said you could be arrested if found with it as the gun range is illegal so we just left.
After firing guns we went to the killing fields which was a bit wierd after firing guns!! This was where the khmer rouge regime in 1975 killed and buried of at least 200,000 people. It was really quiet there and our tour guides uncle was murdered which was even wierder. He showed us around the mass graves fitting up to 200 people, a tree where young children used to be tortured etc...It was interesting but a little full on.
We then went to S21 prison (security 21) in four years around 17,000 people were imprisoned. They were repeatedly tortured and were not allowed to talk to eachother in the cells. It was interesting but f***ing really full on. You could still see blood on the walls, ceilings and floors, where they had been cut open, beaten etc. There are alot of people in Cambodia with diseases and disfigurements. As we came outside a man walked up to me with no ear, arm, and abit of his nose was off. His face was burnt really bad, and had big lumps hanging off it. He looked like he was out of the film Cabin Fever!! He walked right up to me asking for money. I s*** myself and had to run off to my tuk tuk as Ali and Ned who is travelling with us for abit, were already there!! He even came after me for a little bit haha
We went out drinking and we said to a tuk tuk driver can you take us back to our room for two dollars he said yes eventually. Ali stopped off for a baguette, then we got back to our room. Ali and Ned had already started walking to where we were staying, as I said I would pay. I went to give him two dollars and he said its four dollars. I was like what are you going on about you said two dollars, and he was like you stopped off for food extra two dollars. Out of principle I said your getting two dollars and put it on his tuk tuk and went to walk off. he stopped me and said two more dollars. By this point Ned had came back out, and could not believe he was trying to get another two dollars (two dollars is about 1.20 but in our position it wasnt money it was principle) I got worked up and started walking off, he tried to grab me and i pushed him away, and thought im not fighting in Cambodia like. As I walked again he turned to Ned ( who has had around fifty boxing matches and does not look aggressive or look like a fighter) and kicked Ned in his waist. So Ned turned round and give him a few punches and put the tuk tuk driver on his back. Then from knowhere another cambodian ran up and tried to kick him in the side so i give him a few digs, then within five seconds there was six of them and just me and Ned, so we went back into the hotel, and the security stopped them coming after us. In the morning the manager said there was blood everywhere, and the mans lips was pretty bad, but I explained what had happened and he was fine about it. DONT MESS WITH ME AND NED haha. To be fair though he did deserve it... We left that day.
