After leaving Mum in tears at Auckland airport, we land safely at Bangkok Airport. Unaccustomed to the heat of the country, we relish the air conditioned 'comfort' of the airport! Our first experience of Bangkok is probably one to be forgotten as we walk out the door of the airport, cross the main highway and head for the 'train station' that will take us to the centre of the city ... since neither of us could speak a word of Thai it became very awkward when we ended up in what is most likely known as the 'Otara' of Bangkok ... very dirty and loads of people just staring at us. It made for a very uncomfortable first 15 mins, especially carrying a backpack in sweltering temperatures. Welcome to Thailand :-)
