We were attracted to Yanchep National Park in the guide book because it said it had a koala boardwalk. We thought that it would be amazing to stroll through the eucalyptus trees spotting wild koalas. However, we should have known that it would be an enclosed area like the rest we have seen in sanctuaries and zoos. Since these types of koalas are cared for, regularly fed, and no predators would ever touch them, we have named such areas 'koala spas'. Disappointing.
There were over hundred of white tail black cockatoos flying between several trees and making quite the racket. When they flew off into the horizon, what a sight! Many families were spending the Sunday here in this park.
The Park was quite the change of scenery than the rough, raw national parks we had seen up to this point. It was cool to be so close to this mama roo and her joey. They were calmly eating the pink flowers while we took photos and videos of them.
