Our last day in the Netherlands took us to The Hague to see one of James's old work buddies Bas. It was only an hour away on the train and was so different to Amsterdam - a lot less crowded for a start! We had a lovely day seeing some of the sights like the palace and parliament buildings - of course we sampled some beers too so that we had a completely authentic experience! Ok, let us cast our minds back… So, we left Oban for a mission to the East, 6 hours' worth of trains…pfff. It's amazing how quickly you can pack up a tent when you are being swarmed by midgies in the pouring rain! I think we were both suffering last night after mis-timing the shop opening hours and having to make do with a 2 pints (well, cans) of lager and a packet of crisps and a few sneaky ginger biscuits each for dinner.
