Well the Internet has been pretty rubbish up the west coast, so that's why I've not updated this again yet!
So what have I been doing?
Well I was in Mandurah just south of Perth staying with my friends Ian and ru, and that was so nice. It just felt like home, comfy bed and gorgeous home cooked meals courtesy of ru! We went 4wdriving on the beach one day and that was cool! It was so random though to be driving on a beach but that's how they do it in Oz!!
I also met up with jessy, a friend from uni hockey who's just moved to Mandurah too! Small world! We went to rottnest island for the day and hired bikes to get around. It was so beautiful. It was like a little tropical island! White sandy beaches and gorgeous turquoise sea! There are over 50 beaches on the island and over 20 bays!! And we only did 3 or 4 I think before heading back to get some lunch! Plus our bums were really hurting-I don't know how professional cyclists do it! After lunch we headed to one of the lighthouses on the island which had been built as a ship had crashed into the rocks below as it couldn't see the other lighthouse. And it was only after this, quite late in the afternoon that we saw the local residents of the island 'quokka's' which were mistaken originally for large rats, hence the name of the island!! And they're pretty weird to be honest! They're about cat size and quite fluffy with a kind of cute face, but then they had massive tales like rats!! And I got freaked out when I saw a few more, especially as one was creeping in the shadows!! After our sightings and an ice-cream it was time to catch our ferry back to freemantle and wave goodbye to the beautiful rottnest island!
And goodbye to Mandurah and Ian and Ru as I was heading to Monkey Mia the next day!
