Yassas! el Rodente back on the road.... We roll into the beautifull Kardomilli on Thursday 13th. As we arrive & jump off the bus, we see Roy and Dorathy who are getting on! small world, we have a second to exchange greetings & they say 'go to Stellas!' We follow their quickly pointed directions and a few yard along we are accosted by a Greek lady sayings 'Rooooms?" we say we're Ok, we're going to Stallas...she says Yassas! I'm Stella!. We head off through a field and an olive grove & up a hill to the most immaculate house you could imagine. She invites us in, gives us coffee, biscuits, cakes, lemons, Olives (the best ever) olive oil, a long chat in halting Greek about the area then she takes us to our room, a lovely big room with a kitchen and two balconies with a view to the front down to the sea, and a dramatic view behind straight up the snow capped Taygetos Mountains. Breathtaking. We have a couple of days here poking about the crystal clear bays and walking a little way up the Vyros George. M has picked up a particulatrly nasty bout of cold which lays him low, plus its a lot cooller here with the fresh mountain air. Us rats have to watch out for colds, it can be fatal for us! A small bottle of Metaxa seems to do the trick though. So after two days here we all head off into the unknown (again) Doing this on a 'see what happens' basis is a great adventure, and of course you can't be dissapointed! We're all off to Kalamata now which is a small city, we may stay a night or may go straight on to our next stop off which is Koroni in Massinia. (this puts us onto the the most Western of the three 'fingers' of the Peloponnese) Hope we can find internet access again soon!. Please keep up the message board guys, its great to hear from you all & we all really look forward to it. We're really having a great time away from tourism & deep into the fabric of Greek life, great. Ok see you all seen, things to do, places to go you know.... el Rodente
