Ruthie's Travels
I took a coach to Melbourne during the day so i could hop off and see a bit of Canberra en route. I managed to walk down top one of the main round abouts and get some photos of the (very symetrical) layout of the city. The people seemed very friendly there but the streets were very quiet given that this was a capital city!
On to Melbourne where i spent the next two months working. I initially spent the first two weeks living in a district called Fitzroy north east of the city centre. I stayed in a hostel come share house which was very bohemian/hippy stylee. The owners were a husband and wife with a couple of young boys- the dad was a DJ from Bath so i wasn't phased when i saw a set of decks in the kitchen and loads of phycodelic paintings on the walls! Once i had secured a job i decided to move into a new appartment in the CBD were i could have my own space (only sharing with 4 other people) and got to use the gym, swimming pool and tennis court facilities for the next weeks and only had to take a short walk around the corner to get to work...absoulute bliss!!
