Early start today, up at 6.30am...actually 5.30am due to a bleeping ipod miss barrett! On the bus moving north out of Cairns by 7.20 with George our lovely little aboriginal tour guide! First stop Mossman gorge for a stroll through the forest, over the swinging bridge and back down the gorge past the rapids! Then moving on to the Daintree wildlife sanctuary where we met a very friendly emu and stroked an adorable little wallaby! Lots of kangaroos hopping around and a pool full of very large crocs! Next on to a rainforest walk with loads of mossies but touchwood I've not been bitten yet. Lunch at Cape Trib beach and some photos on the sand. We attempted to use the beach toilets...half way into the toilet and Vicki screams at me 'SPIDER!!!!!' and we spotted a massive black and yellow striped spider hovering above the door...followed by lots of very loud screaming and sprinting out the block dramatically with everyone else laughing at us! Saw the spot where Steve Irwin was killed by the stinger, no swimming here for us! We spotted a male Cassowarie (emu like bird) and its baby by the road, they are very endangered with only 1100-1400 left in the wild, so incredible to see them! Finally onto a crocodile cruise down the Daintree river with big 4m crocs and some tiny tiny babies! Home via Port Douglas and then supper and chill at hostel. Very excited about Great Barrier Reef tomorrow! More updates on the way x
