I headed to Bangkok by bus from Battambang. I'd heard not very good stories about people getting cabs to the border and there being no bus to get them on the other side etc. So I booked the bus from my hotel with the assurance it would take me to Bangkok. Well, there isn't much to report from Battambang. It's a very small, French-looking town with limited cafes and bars - though the ones that are there are nice. And the normal crappy cheap hotels! Battambang itself can be 'explored' in a morning. The only things to see in Battambang are the French houses and the temples, but new ones.
